One would have to say that Natalie Dorf's career as an artist started in the fifth grade, when she was commissioned to paint a mural on the walls of the school lobby. Coming from a family of artists, Natalie had a full dose of fine art and art history lessons early on. However, she decided to pursue a career in business. Early in her business career she found herself designing and creating fine jewelry in her spare time, which she sold at Henry Bendell's, a boutique department store on 5th Avenue in Manhattan.
This venture made her realize her true love and passion for art and creativity. She worked as an art instructor for many years at Lee Wards and designed work that was sold as kits as well as teaching many forms of needlework, glasswork, painting and sculpting.
She started her painting career while working at Lee Wards and became part of the juried art show circuit that traveled the Northeast Coast.
Some of her favorite venues included the Washington Square Art Show in New York City, the Mystic Conneticut Fine Art Show, the Jacob Javits Center Show and the New York City Flower Show, where she was asked to paint on site with a profusion of people and flowers surrounding her.
She came to the Florida Keys as a retired artist, but found that the beautiful surroundings gave her the inspiration to bring out her easal and once again put her passion on canvas.
Her current work represents her love of children, family, and the natural beauty of the Florida Keys.
Her work is currently being shown at Key Largo Art Gallery and Island Decor Gallery in Tavernier FL. Natalie has many original paintings on display at her home in Tavenier. Please contact Natalie directly to book an appointment to view these additional paintings.
